Michael trained for many years with Carolyn Mellor (Vision Sport Horses) attaining BHS Stage 3 and NVQ Level 2 in Horse Care, riding and Knowledge. He has worked for many years within the equine industry and has achieved many successful results over the years in various equine disciplines.
A highlight of his career, working as a liveried helper at the Royal Mews, Michael schooled young horses, took part in ceremonial parades and competed on HM the Queen’s horses. A role which demanded fitness, dedication and attention to detail, Michael excelled and left the Mews to set up on his own, wishing to impart the knowledge and expertise he has spent years nurturing to his clients.
More recently Michael has been trading as Boyd Equestrian, teaching clients, providing competition Livery, schooling horses for clients and producing horses for sale.
He has had success in multiple disciplines and has competed at shows in England and all over Ireland. Since being self employed Michael has competed successfully in Dressage, Working hunter, Showing and Eventing. He won the Eventing Ireland league in 2014/15 with Ballyalt Comet. He has also been a previous winner of the Winter National Championship in Dressage and been the leading rider in many other dressage festivals and competitions.
